Rochester: Good News and Bad News

Good News

Let’s deal with the good news first. The reason we arrived in Lime Springs on Tuesday for Sweet Corn Days was because I had appointments at Mayo Clinic on Wednesday and Thursday. I’ll make this part of the story really short, and just give the results of the professional opinions which I was seeking:

  1. Yes, I have an incisional hernia. It’s from the hiatal hernia repair they did four years ago. Chances are 50-50 that I won’t ever need to have it repaired. The surgeon isn’t going to worry about it, so I see no reason for me to worry about it!
  2. I will have my right hip replaced August 25.

Bad News

My very favorite bookstore in my very favorite location has closed! Yes, Barnes and Noble in the old Chateau Theater has closed. I certainly hope they reopen the building as some other attractive business which enjoys the old theater trappings. That was one neat bookstore!

Then the other bad news: Michaels has closed! Michaels has been there on the corner for as long as I can remember. It was always a good place to have lunch after we received good news from the folks just up the street at Mayo.

Pictures

On this page, I’m using a “Gallery” template to show the pictures. Just click on a picture to see it larger, or click on the left or right arrow to move through them, one by one.

These are just some pictures I took in Rochester. I found them interesting. Your mileage may vary.
