National Night Out in Lime Springs

We arrived in Lime Springs a few days early for Sweet Corn Days. That turned out to be an unexpected blessing, as Lime Springs was participating in the National Night Out (August 4) in a big way.

And because we were there, we got to participate!

The event was sponsored by the Lime Springs Fire Department and held at Brown Park. They had their large and shiny trucks on display. Old and young were impressed; mostly the young! They tested the sirens oh-so-briefly frequently, adding to the festive nature of the event.

The firemen provided popcorn, hot dogs, pop, and ICE CREAM! It was a pleasant evening and many citizens came out to enjoy visiting with their neighbors.

The picture shows Mary Larson (nearest the camera), then Sandy Johnson, Mary Stevenson, and Becky Pahl enjoying the evening.

You can also see the good variety of playground equipment in the park! It’s all in good repair and attractive. All the equipment got a good workout over the weekend. Our great-granddaughters, Molly and Leah (the Park Princesses), gave it a good test and their stamp of approval.

Pat and I enjoyed the evening. It gave us an opportunity to chat with folks we don’t frequently see. If you skipped it this year, we suggest you join others and enjoy next year!

Thank You to the LSFD for sponsoring National Night Out and providing the treats. We certainly enjoyed your hospitality!
