Favorite “Uniform”
Some of the guys reading this might be of similar mind. My favorite summer attire for around home is a pair of jeans and a T-shirt with a pocket. They’re commonly called “pocket Tees.”
For some reason, I forgot to stock the trailer with them when we left Cedar Rapids for Texas in November. Possibly, I thought there were enough in the trailer. It turns out there weren’t.
Did you notice that I said “I forgot…?” Years ago when I travelled a lot for my employer, I always packed my own suitcase. Here’s the reason: if something was missing, I did not want it to be Pat’s fault. If I had to be mad at someone, I wanted to be mad at myself—not at my dear wife.
That plan served both of us well!
Pocket Tees Not Available
Of course I missed my favorite shirts so went to get some. We checked Wal*Mart. None. We checked Academy, a huge sporting goods store. None.
We even went as far as going to the mall and checking a couple of the big stores there. None. And of course Target had no pocket tees either.
Back home, one of my favorite clothing suppliers is Thiesen’s. That’s a local equivalent, more-or-less, to Mills Fleet Farm stores in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and now even Iowa. I’ve discovered some really comfortable pants there: nice looking “work” pants by Carhart.
I’ve not seen a “farm store” such as those down here. But there is a Tractor Supply! Ahh, I thought. My search is over! No such luck, it turned out.
Forced to Buy Online
I’ve told people, “Amazon has everything! They’re much more than books!”
Maybe I should look to see if they offer pocket tees. They do!!!!
I ordered a package of four Fruit of the Loom shirts in different colors. Price: under $13! And free shipping, because each of us ordered a book at the same time! Admittedly, they are not heavy-duty T shirts but they will be perfectly adequate for use down here.
Two other attributes: they do have the required pocket and they do not have a sewn-in tag to tickle my neck or stick out.

if you order the pocket tees or anything else
after clicking the link to Amazon.com.
