Exploring McAllen’s Old Town

Exploring McAllen, Texas, USA

Yesterday was a beautiful day down here in way-South Texas! The temperature was in the low 80s. The sky was a beautiful blue, with just enough whispy clouds to make pictures interesting.

We drove up and down Main Street. The area is several blocks long. The stores are all occupied and clearly catering to the Hispanic population. There were no empty parking spots on Main Street, so business must have been good.

The north end of Main Street has several art galleries. That’s probably why it’s designated the Art District! Neither Pat nor I had ever heard of it, so we “discovered” it! That makes the day a success!

Here’s a picture of one gallery. When I spotted it, it begged me to take its picture! In fact, I took about a dozen! It looks just like a building you’d expect to find in Texas or the SW nearly 100 years ago, doesn’t it! I should go back and learn the building’s history.

We’ll have do some more exploring of McAllen. I’m sure there are more hidden gems.
