Friday Activities

By kaw / 8 years ago

Friday is usually sort of a fun day for use. Kinda like a Saturday! I thought I’d give you our Friday activities, just to give you an idea of what we do down here.

We started the day by having breakfast at the clubhouse: biscuits and gravy for three bucks!

Friday is Pat’s mountain dulcimer day, from 9:30 to 11:30. She plays with over a dozen others, including Mary Goetsch (Gary’s wife.) In the meantime, I washed and waxed the front of the trailer, the part beneath the bedroom. There’s still plenty of trailer left to wash and wax, believe me!

After lunch at home, we headed to a park just down the road a mile (Enchanted Valley Ranch) to listen to their polka jam session. It really isn’t a jam session; it’s more like a concert! There was a huge crowd there today, as everyone who is coming down is probably here by now. The stage was filled with squeeze boxes and the usual tuba, plus another smaller tuba, a baritone, a trombone, and a trumpet! Those guys are good!

Are landlords, also from Cedar Rapids, have sort of adopted us. They make sure we get invited to everything and anything. This time it was the play Grease, at the local highschool. I opted not to go; not my kind of music. Pat went.

I headed to our clubhouse at five for a hotdog supper before our jam session at 5:30. I’m an understudy to the fellow who runs the audio mixing board. (He’s originally from Albert Lea.) Tonight he wanted me to actually run it most of the time. We were using nine microphones and the board has well over 100 knobs on it. It didn’t fly, but was interesting and fun anyway!

Now I’m home catching up on emails and telling my friends around the country what I did today. And Pat just got home.

Another day of Friday activities is in the books. And before we realize it, there will be another Friday! They sure come by quickly!
