Beautiful Northeast Iowa
The picture above is a typical scene from a highway in NE Iowa. This taken was a few miles SW of Guttenberg.
Each Fall, we take a “leaf drive” to view the colorful leaves in beautiful NE Iowa. Because we were busy other days, plus there were some days when the weather wasn’t conducive to a leaf drive, today was the day. As it turned out, we should have gone about two weeks ago. The leaves were not brilliant but most were still on the trees.
Almost always we end up in McGregor, on the Mississippi River. Because the leaves were not brilliant, today we only went to Guttenburg, also right on the Mississippi, then headed back to Cedar Rapids. Total drive: 177 miles.
Pictures from Northeast Iowa
I did take a few pictures. Forty-three, to be exact. But when I take a picture, I usually take several of the same subject. With digital cameras, each picture is free so you can take as many as it takes to get “just the right picture.”
Here are six culled from today’s shoot.
The first one is an old barn on the edge of Elkport. This town and Garber are at the confluence of the Volga River with the Turkey River. Both towns are well past their prime but are picturesque.
