June 7, several Lime Springers gathered in Cedar Rapids to bid farewell to Adella “Dell” Laue, Don’s wife. She passed away after suffering from lung disease.
Don himself had been hospitalized for heart issues. As the Father said, he had been granted a “parole” so he could attend the funeral. In fact, his parole expired immediately after the ceremony at the cemetery and before lunch. Don was back in the hospital quickly!
Ray Gasser and Rita Jones drove down from Lime Springs. Rita told me that Don, Ray, and Gene Jones spent a lot of time together during their time at Lime Springs High School and were known as “the three musketeers.”
Myrna, Don’s cousin, and her husband, Bob Moore, of Fredericksburg were there so we had a nice “Lime Springs table” at lunch.
