Frustration on Black Friday
It’s not been a good day. I’m not talking about the weather; it was great!
I’m talking about the problems I tried to solve, which were:
- Helping Friend Connect to His Online Pharmacy
Super frustrating to him and to me. I finally left his computer and tried mine. Still no luck. He phoned them, learned that his account was blocked, they unblocked it and provided a new password. He still couldn’t get in, but I did! Eventually, he was able to connect with his computer, so, finally, there was a happy ending to this frustration.
- TV Will Only Receive 3 of 20 HD Channels
I spent about 45 minutes on Chat with a Vizio representative. Went through all the hoops she presented. NO improvement. When I went to give her the final results, my Internet failed. Again.
- Internet Failed
After about four hours, this was solved. My modem was not working properly, so the cable company gave me a new one. It worked. But it still cost me a trip to the cable company and, worse yet, four hours of frustration.
- TV Problem Revisited
I called Vizio about problem #2. After about 40 minutes, and after consulting with his supervisor, he told me that “there were differences in tuner scanners between brands and mine probably just wasn’t strong enough to get all channels.” I told him I would do more research, but that explanation was unacceptable. Actually, I believe he pretty much agreed with me. I told him I’d get back with them on this problem. And I will!
- Website Features
I wanted to add functions to a couple of websites so I could measure how many visitors came to the site. Installation of the required software , although it was supposed to be simple and automatic, failed. Did it cause additional problems? Too early to know. I sure hope not.
I’m thinking that perhaps this retired guy should change his activities to reduce frustration. The plan was to leave frustration behind when I retired.
Or maybe I just need to get smarter.
One more frustration: After writing this, I feel no less frustrated. I though, perhaps, writing about it would help. It didn’t.
But there is some good news: I didn’t have to deal with Mediacom today!
