David Kemmer and His “Bouncy Bike”

How could a TV show remind one of David Kemmer?

The show was American Pickers, the antique dealers from over here in Le Claire, which features two guys who go all over the country seeking treasures from “junk” dealers. (My Dad would have loved this program!)

Tonight, they came upon a “bouncy bike”—more properly called an Ingo Bike. I’ve only seen one, and that was when David Kemmer was riding it in a Lime Springs parade, dressed as a clown, as I recall.

Here’s a technical description of what makes it go. The video which simply showed a man riding one was not available for publishing here.

This brings up another question: Whatever happened to David Kemmer? The last I knew, he had an organ shop (pipe organs, that is) in Oronoco. He’s probably still there, fixing or building organs.

It’s amazing what subject brings up memories of old friends from Lime Springs  —a bouncy bike; who whoulda thunk it?

This very well might be a repeat of a previous article. But that’s OK, as if I’ve forgotten about it, you might have also! There’s good reason for it to be a repeat: the TV show which prompted it was a repeat for me.
