We saw the first serious cornfield a few miles west of Mitchell, SD.
I said to Pat, “Here’s a cornfield. It ends somewhere east of Indianapolis.”
And from what we could tell, that was pretty much true.
In that field, there were five John Deere combines, feeding two semi-trailers, each with a trailer behind them. They were set to do some serious combining that day!
We saw a few more fields being harvested between there and the Minnesota border. Also, there were some, not a lot, under harvest in SW Minnesota. As we neared home, coming down US-63, there were a few more. Around Cedar Rapids, almost no harvesting was in progress.
This evening I went for a cycle ride, out through Palo and back. A lot of the corn is now harvested! Things really changed in one week.
