Wonderful Weekend in Lime Springs, Indeed!

The most beautiful petunias ever!

Pat and I loaded up the trailer Thursday and went to Lime Springs, parking at Jim and Sheryll’s Campground and Resort. As usual, the caretaker (Jim) had it meticulously groomed. We parked beside Doug Robinson, who is spending a few weeks there. Friday, we got new neighbors: Lee and Sheryl Sloan, regular Sweet Corn Day attendees from Jefferson. That was a good start on a wonderful weekend in Lime Springs!

The Secret of Beautiful Petunias

There are about 50 planters of petunias beautifying Lime Springs this summer. Some are hanging from the light poles and other in ground-based planters.

I’ve never seen them so large, full, and beautiful!

I chatted with Butch Burnikel, who gave me the secret to their great appearance. He said that he gives them a drink of about 130 gallons of water every day! On real hot days they get watered twice!

The secret to their beauty!

We and hundreds of others can thank Butch for helping provide a beautiful and wonderful weekend in Lime Springs, my home town.

Dozens of Volunteers

Along with Butch, there are dozens of volunteers. And not one of them is seeking publicity; they’re “just doin’ my job” to make Sweet Corn Days a success.

And based on everything I saw and heard it was a SUCCESS!

Thank You, Lime Springs Community Club, for a wonderful weekend in Lime Springs!
