Tori, A Brief Introduction

By kaw / 12 years ago

Tori, A New Contrtibutor!

Who would expect an obituary to lead to a new writer for The Lime Springs Page? It did, and her name is Tori!

Or to the sale of three pair of mohair socks, for that matter. But that’s another story.

When my cousin Tootie died a month or so ago, I was intrigued (dazzled, wowed, impressed?) by her obituary. Funeral Director Jim Hindt, when I asked who wrote it, replied, “I’ve been asked that two dozen times! Tori, Tootie’s niece, wrote it.”

Tori’s Beginning

Tori is a daughter of Jim and the late Ada Austin, of Austin’s Mohair fame. For years, Ada, with Jim doing some of the heavy lifting, raised the goats who produced the mohair. And meat, and goodness-knows what else.

Jim and Tootie are the children of Burton Austin and grew up on the farm just SW of Saetersdahl Church, where all the ten “Austin kids” grew up. (Among the ten “originals” were my mother (Sadie), Emma Ihns, and Art Austin from the Lime Springs area.)

Even though Tori grew up near Harmony, I didn’t meet her until recently. I invited her to write something, anything!, for The Lime Springs Page and she did! I hope she contributes more articles.

This is a very brief introduction to Tori. She lives in the state of Virginia with her husband, daughter, and son. She has a sister and two brothers. They are a military family. I’m certain there are many, many, more stories in her pen/computer! My hope is that she shares some of them with us.

There’s lot’s more to share about her, but for now that will do!

Enjoy her article on chance meetings, below! And don’t forget to give it some stars! Good ratings would encourage her to join us again!
