Travel Musings

Here are some comments from Wayne Roberts. He was traveling through SD and NE so no doubt had lots of time to think!   Thanks for sharing, Wayne.

We passed through Mitchell, SD, saw the corn palace, thence southward through the sand hills of Nebraska.

The thought crossed my mind that the population of our great country has always congregated near the means of transportation, the trails, the rivers, the railroads and now the interstates.  The areas away from the highways are even more barren of population than they were ten or twenty years ago.

The second thought was about unemployment.  l begin to suspect that there is more to the current picture than meets the eye.  With big farms, big factories, efficiency and other modern wonders, maybe the problem is with the system as well, maybe there are just not that many jobs?
