Spring is Here!

Spring at its finest!

Spring is here and along with it a whole series of events or to-dos.

First, we need to return from Texas. We accomplished that one before Easter.

Always looming its ugly head is the income tax project. It was an unusually long and trying battle this year, but was completed several days ahead of Monday’s deadline. Thanks goodness that one is over!

Spring flower. The trees which blossom are approaching their peak of beauty here in Cedar Rapids now. We saw some beautiful redbud trees this morning! And our few flowers are blossoming, too.  Once it gets a bit warmer, we’ll plant some more. We like the cheerful look colorful flowers bring to a home!

I’ve been riding my scooter (Suzuki Burgman 400) but have not taken any long trips yet. My riding so far has extended only to Center Point. There’ll be plenty of time for longer trips this summer. And the cost is right: it goes about 54 miles on each gallon of gasoline! That’s five times as many miles as the pickup gives while pulling the trailer! Of course the comfort level is a bit different, too!

Pat has gotten into the swing of her twice-per-week painting sessions with her friends. I haven’t seen any spectacular completions yet, but they’ll come, I’m sure.

I’ve not been flying yet. The first step is to get my gate pass at the airport renewed. That’s in process. Then to GO FLYING! Spring is always a pretty time to fly around here. The black fields contrast strongly with the brilliant green grass and trees. Then, as the crops grow the black fields slowly turn from black to various shades of green.

If you follow me on facebook, you’ll know that I’m considering getting a banjo and trying to learn to play it. That would be the project of the year, for sure! I’m looking for an inexpensive, possibly even cheap, 5-string banjo. If you know of one available , please let me know. I’ve not purchased yet, but possibly getting close.

What’s going on in your life? I bet other Lime Springers would be interested! Write me, or take me up on the Skype offer I’ll mention in the next post.
