Seasons of the Year

By kaw / 12 years ago

When we were young, there were basically two seasons: before Christmas and after Christmas. The same was true as we aged and had kids, grandkids, and now great-grandkids.

If you’re interested in aviation, especially home-built airplanes or sport aviation, there are two seasons: before Oshkosh and after Oshkosh.

And now matter what your age or interests, there are still two seasons: before taxes and after taxes.

I’m pleased to report that Pat and I are enjoying the “after taxes” season this week. I hit the “Send” button Saturday afternoon. Amazingly, I received notice that the federal forms had been accepted only about 90 minutes later, a new record. Bet those who submit today or tomorrow won’t get such a speedy response! And I was just now notified that my Iowa filing has been accepted.

That means it is truly “after taxes” season!

Now that we’re in the new season, it’s time to do all of the things which were out-prioritized by last weeks activity of completing the taxes. But it won’t be all “work” as I have a flying gig tomorrow morning!

By the way, I use TaxAct for doing my taxes. TaxAct is made by a small company, Second Story Software, which is right here in Cedar Rapids! It’s not as well known as TurboTax but does the job well and is less expensive.
