I’m saddened to report that Ray Gasser passed away last weekend.

The family will meet friends Friday afternoon, 4 to 6, at the Lime Springs Community Center.

His memorial service will be Saturday, September 26, 10:30 AM, also at the Community Center.

Ray’s obituary is published in the Cresco Times, here: http://crescotimes.com/articles/2015/09/25/obituaries/doc560458814fb28901081118.txt

Here’s a great article which appeared in the Lime Springs Herald back in 2012:

During Ray’s high school days, there was a group of three boys known as the Three Musketeers: Gene Jones, Ray Gasser, and Don Laue. They remained life-long friends, with Don, who lives here in Cedar Rapids, now being the lone Muskateer.

I called Rita Jones, Gene’s widow, and learned a lot about Ray. Most importantly, there’s quite a bit of information on her facebook page about Ray. It’s here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100009381487545&fref=ts

However, to see the info on Ray, you need to, first, belong to facebook, and, second, be a “friend” of Rita’s. You can click a box near the upper right of her page which says something like “be a friend.” When Rita accepts you as a friend, then you’ll be able to see all that she and family members have posted.

Ray and I became “cycle buddies” a few years ago, when I learned that we each owned and enjoyed a Suzuki Burgman 400 maxi-scooter. Ray has owned motorcycles almost forever, and always Harley’s, I believe. We rode our scooters out to the ground breaking of Lime Springs Beef. The picture at the top was taken at that event.

These last two pictures were taken at the funeral of Adella Laue, Don’s wife, last year.

Our sympathy to Ray’s family.
