This story is a common theme of border activities down here. This one is unique in the numbers!
Last night, the cops were trying to pull over a 16-passenger van which the deemed suspicious. As often happens, the driver lost control of the van and it rolled over—not an unusual ending in this area.
The van rolled into a canal.
Thirty-nine—thirty-nine!—passengers in the van were taken to the hospital! One was killed.
Last year, we heard news like this, but with fewer passengers, once or twice each month.

Dec. 3 Update on van accident
It was the driver of the van who was killed. He was 16.
The 39 passengers were illegal immigrants.
