A Neat Tool

By kaw / 13 years ago

After 74 years, it is not very often that I run onto a tool which I have never even heard about, much less used. Perhaps I’ve led a sheltered life, but I had never heard of a thread file—until last night.

I was at the shop of my motorcycle-repair guru, Lenny, and had a bolt with damaged threads. He produced a thread file and it solved the problem quickly.

I’ll give a link to a picture of one in action, rather than try to describe it in detail. Suffice it to say that the really neat thread files can be used on eight different “sizes” of threads.

These tools, like almost every other specialized tool, are practically worth their weight in gold when you really need them. And for about 15 bucks, you could have your very own!

You could even order it from Amazon. Did you know that you could order almost anything from Amazon? They’re not just books these days!
