Write A Letter: Surprise Someone!
Over a week ago, I received a hand-written letter. I was thrilled! And surprised.
When was the last time you received such a piece of mail? The same as me, perhaps: a long time ago.
Perhaps that’s what made it so special. Commodities in short supply are very dear. That’s probably the reason.
This letter was from a Lime Springer whom I’ve known “forever.” When I was in Lime Springs during Sweet Corn Days, a chance encounter followed by a special circumstance led us to a fairly lengthy conversation.
When I returned to Lime Springs for the ground-breaking ceremony for Lime Springs Beef *, the “special circumstance” mentioned above led me to visit this person and engage in another lengthy conversation on a subject in which we were both interested.
That visit prompted the letter. As I said, it was a surprise and also very much appreciated. It was special because my friend took the time to write a letter—to me! That made me feel pretty special.
Surprise Someone
Based on my experience, I think I’ll write someone a letter and surprise them! Surely it will do that, and if I don’t actually write it but type it, the recipient will be able to read it!
You might consider surprising someone, too! A friend from years past, a relative you’ve almost lost contact with, a neighbor from years past who is currently leading a lonely life—surely there’s someone who would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Write a letter today!
My bet is that your letter will be appreciated as much as I appreciated the letter I received.
* I put this in so you’d know there’s a website on the way. It’s nothing more than the logo and beautiful background picture now. Check weekly!
