New Industry Means Bright Future for Lime Springs
Years of intense planning by Jesse Stevens, President of Lime Springs Beef, LLC, was formally recognized today during a groundbreaking ceremony at the company’s site in Lime Springs.
Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds participated, saying that operations such as Lime Springs Beef are great for the entire state of Iowa.
Potential for 50 New Jobs
Fifty new jobs was mentioned during the ceremony! Fifty new jobs, right here in Lime Springs!
Lime Springs Beef has been working with Northeast Iowa Community College regarding training for this new-to-the-area industry. Liang Chee Wee, PhD and President of the college, made the trip because he recognizes the value of the industry and the role education will play. He also clearly recognizes the value of personal relationships in business relationships. “Why would you trust someone in business if you do not have a relationship with them?” Dr. Wee said.
I enjoyed a long conversation with Dr. Wee. There is no doubt that he has the interest of the entire area in mind. In my opinion, NICC is in good and capable hands!
Locals Attend Lime Springs Beef Event
Many of the investors in Lime Springs Beef are not from the town of Lime Springs but from the surrounding area. And few town residents will be raising beef for the operation! But that didn’t stop civic minded citizens from coming to the party!
Ray Gasser scooted out to the site on his Burgman and was greeted by Blanche Peter. Blanche really had no other choice to attend, as she is Jesse’s mother-in-law. I’m sure her late husband, Kenny Peter, provided encouragement and advice to Jesse through the planning process. He would have loved today!
