Every farmer knew the usefulness of baling wire! It could be used to fix at least half the problems which farmers dealt with on a daily basis. Some fixes were temporary; others were solved so well with the magic wire that the fix remained permanent.
A couple of Iowa farm boys, namely Gary and Keith, were educated by their fathers, Henry and Harlan, in the benefits of baling wire at an early age. That’s the subject of the discussion which brought forth the quote above.
Our baling-wire education took place about 65 years ago. Clearly, it must have made an impression!
Our fathers were good teachers!
