Doug Sloan: an Introduction

You probably don’t know Doug Sloan. I have never met Doug. However, he does have a Lime Springs connection.

Unfortunately, Doug is very ill.

Doug Sloan and his family

Doug is the son of Sheryl Moldt Sloan and Lee Sloan, who live in Jefferson. Doug and his family live in or near Peoria, IL, where he is an engineer with Caterpillar.

It is Doug and Jennifer’s daughter Hannah who writes the articles in Hannah’s Keyboard Creations —so now you know the connection.

All was going fine for this energetic family, until…

Sudden Illness

. . . about a month ago when Doug had an attack which put him in the hospital. I’ll give you the short version here:

He had/has pancreatitis, probably caused by a gall stone lodged in a duct.

It sounds to this non-medical person that he is finally beginning to get better. This is great news!

Because the Sloans have a great number of caring friends who are concerned ab0ut their family, Jennifer wrote a great history of the problem and all that has gone on. You can read it on . . .

CaringBridge

. . . which is a great way for families to report to friends and neighbors —the whole world, actually!— the progress of their loved one.

Just go to https://caringbridge.org. You’ll have to open an account if you don’t already have one. It’s free and you don’t get a bunch of junk mail or email from them, either. Then type in dougsloan in the search box in the upper right corner!

Finally, click on “Journal” to get the latest information.

Below the report, you can leave a message to the Sloans if you wish.

Update July 7

First, this post disappeared from The Lime Springs Page a few days after I posted it. The above is a repost of what I believe was the same article.

Second, Jennifer’s most recent post, on July 4, suggests that Doug is definitely improving! What great news!
