Professional Baseball Players
In a recent article about Jake Peter, I commented that he might be the first person with a Lime Springs connection to play professional baseball.
One of The Lime Springs Page’s most faithful readers reminded me that he might not be the first! I had forgotten that Kenneth Jones, son of Herbie and Barbara Jones, also was drafted by the majors.
He played for various teams from 1980 through 1985.I’m not enough of a baseball fan to know the details.
Mystery Photo
First, thanks to all who responded regarding the mystery photo, repeated at the top of the page. Some emailed, some responded on Facebook, while others Commented right on this page.
My biggest chuckle came from Nancy (Moldt) Sugges, who commented, “Oh come, come, come…”
The photo was of what we know as The Little Brown Church, made famous by the song “The Church in the Valley” or other names, including “The Little Brown Church in the Vale.”
One comment I read in a banjo book was that the song actually came first! Then the church was built to match the song. Interesting!
