Harvey & Betty Moldt Remembered

By kaw / 8 years ago

Harvey and Betty Moldt were proprietors of the lumber yard in Lime Springs for years, beginning in about 1951. Their daughters, Sheryl and Nancy, graduated from LSHS in 1955 and 1957, respectively. Harvey and Betty passed away in 1984 and 1982, respectively.

Their girls were considering an appropriate way to recognize their parents, Harvey and Betty Moldt, in Lime Springs. And it just so happened that the receiving vault at Lime Springs’ Pleasant Hill Cemetery was in need of a new roof! What could be a more fitting way to remember a local lumberyard couple than by donating some sort of  construction activity!

Dave Munkel was contracted to install a new metal roof on the building, an activity which was completed last year. This should obviate the need for a new roof for several decades. Besides being effective, it is very attractive.

Plaque Installed

Photo of plaque remembering Harvey and Betty Moldt. This year, an attractive plaque was added to the front of the building in order to memorialize Harvey and Betty Moldt. What a fitting way to remember this couple, who were very active in the Lime Springs community.

Sheryl married Lee Sloan. They’ve lived in Jefferson, Iowa, for decades and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a few years ago. They have a son and a daughter. Hannah, who writes a weekly article published in the section “Hannah’s Keyboard Creations” here on The Lime Springs Page, is one of their grandchildren.

Nancy is married to Peter Sugges. They live in Chandler, Arizona, and have one daughter. Nancy has contributed greatly to The Lime Springs Page via her articles published in the “Nancy’s Notes” section.

The Lime Springs community and Pleasant Hill family appreciates this generous gift, given in loving memory of great citizens of the area.

Thank you, Sloan and Sugges families!
