Memorial Day 2015

By kaw / 8 years ago

The Memorial Day 2015 service in Lime Springs was a bit different from usual, but the reasonably large crowd found it quite acceptable!

There was no “guest speaker.” In it’s place, Legion Commander Jim Thomas read appropriate remarks at the beginning of the program.

The program opened with the Crestwood Band performing outside, in front of the Lime Springs Community Center.

Photo of Root River Revelers performing at Memorial Day 2015 in Lime Springs. The Root River Revelers sang several songs, supported by the audience joining in on some of them. This was the first year they have been part of the Memorial Day service, but I suspect it will not be the last. The Revelers were ably lead by Mrs. Klingshiem, a young and energetic director who appeared to love directing as much as Doc Lyon loved singing. I always enjoy watching those who clearly love what they are doing!

There are actually 12 blue-shirted singers shown here. Can you find them all? (Click on the picture to enlarge it.)

Following the program at the Community Center, the Legion members had a short ceremony at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Lunch Served; Guest Visited

IMG_7324At 11, the Library Board served lunch this Memorial Day. Guests enjoyed visiting and no one seemed in a hurry to leave! Not all of the kitchen help are in the picture. I know Mary Ryon, Steve Johnson, and Doc Lyon were busy helping; perhaps others, too.

I’ll post some pictures here. I’m sure you’ll recognize some friends!IMG_7319>
