You might not find them interesting, of course, and that&#8217;s fine. But as you go to links of my favorite videos or sites, you just might find something else which you really do find interesting\u2014thanks to The Lime Springs Page!<\/p>\n<p>Over time, some new readers have learned about this site and may have become regular readers. They might have missed out on some of the things I find interesting so I&#8217;ll post links to a few of my favorite videos here.<\/p>\n<h2>Favorite videos:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Our hometown newspaper, Lime Springs Herald\" href=\"http:\/\/lsherald.com\" target=\"_blank\">The Lime Springs Herald<\/a><br \/>\nCan you believe I forgot this link when I first posted this article! (Sorry, Marcie.) The reason: I get the paper copy of the Herald so this site isn&#8217;t as important to me as it would be if I wasn&#8217;t a subscriber. Not everything is in this on-line edition, but certainly enough to keep you somewhat connected to Lime Springs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Video: Where in Iowa is Jeff?\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KsWBD3UPfg4\" target=\"_blank\">Where in Iowa is Jeff?<\/a><br \/>\nAn easy way to sample all parts of Iowa!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Video: Where in Iowa is Jeff? ...The Sequel\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_sin14yiUQY\" target=\"_blank\">Where in Iowa is Jeff?&#8230;The Sequel<\/a><br \/>\nVisit even more places in Iowa, including Lidtke Mill at Lime Springs! (Hmmm, I wonder who suggested that he include that?)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Video: Stand by Me\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Us-TVg40ExM\" target=\"_blank\">Stand By Me | Playing For Change | Song Around the World<\/a><br \/>\nThis song is very cleverly done, with parts sung or played by folks from very different parts of the world. It&#8217;s neat!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Video: Welsh National Anthem\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gtCOprRDUm8\" target=\"_blank\">Welsh National Anthem<\/a><br \/>\nMost renditions of the National Anthem of Wales are recorded at soccer games, it seems. But that&#8217;s OK, as the Welsh like nothing better than to literally get a thousand men together and sing! Each time I hear the Anthem, I get goose bumps as there are some exciting notes in the song. Before you click on the link, make sure you have plenty of time available, as it is very possible that you&#8217;ll want to listen to some of the other videos available on that page!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_1012\" style=\"width: 157px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ls4.us\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/HPIM2101.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1012\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1012\" title=\"Flag_2101\" src=\"http:\/\/ls4.us\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/HPIM2101-147x300.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of the flag of Wales to illustrate favorite videos\" width=\"147\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ls4.us\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/HPIM2101-147x300.jpg 147w, https:\/\/ls4.us\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/HPIM2101.jpg 236w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 147px) 100vw, 147px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1012\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>The Welsh Flag<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Would you believe that during my 18+ years of living near Lime Springs I not once saw the Welsh flag nor heard their national anthem! Rather sad, actually, because our little town had a large number of residents who came from Wales. Lime Springs could have capitalized on its Welsh heritage, I think\u2014much as Pella has capitalized on its Dutch heritage.<\/p>\n<p>But back in those days, the late 1800s to mid-1900s, newcomers to our country and to Lime Springs wanted to be AMERICANS! They didn&#8217;t want to be Welsh or Germans who lived in America. They wanted to be Americans and tried with all their might to become Americans as quickly as they could.<\/p>\n<p>I guess there were exceptions: my greatgrandfather, &#8220;Old Country Bill&#8221;, never did learn English. But the next generation learned English and continued to speak Welsh at home. And <em>their <\/em>children pretty much let the old language slip past them, with the exception of the Robert (&#8220;Bobby Short&#8221;) Jones family\u2014Thomas, Elizabeth, Margaret, and &#8220;Red Bill.&#8221; Of all my relatives, they were by far the most fluent in Welsh. The one remaining cousin of that generation is Adell Jones.<\/p>\n<h2>Today&#8217;s Immigrants<\/h2>\n<p>It appears that too many current immigrants really don&#8217;t want to be Americans. They do want our opportunities for a better life and they do want our benefits, but they really don&#8217;t seem too interested in being Americans. Some don&#8217;t even bother to become citizens.<\/p>\n<p>How did an article on favorite videos morph into a statement on immigration issues?
