Like Dr. Martin Luther King, I have a dream. Tens of thousands, if not millions, came to share his dream.
My dream, at best, will probably only be shared by a few hundred or possibly a few thousand. The difference: my dream is a local dream. Most people who live hundreds of miles from Lime Springs will have no knowledge of the dream or interest in it.
At least not now.
Frequently on ABC’s evening news, there’s a feature about an American person or company who is making something in America and contributing to our economic growth at its most basic and efficient level.
My dream is simply this:
ABC will highlight Lime Springs Beef’s packing plant and
Upper Iowa Beef products on its Made in America segment
before December 31, 2016.
This will be no small task. It’ll take, first of all, a successful opening of the operation. It’ll take an enthusiastic workforce.
Local residents who are enthusiastic about the economic benefits of the plant will also help get Lime Springs Beef noticed. And, let’s face it, it’ll take a certain amount of politicking and unabashed promotion by those whose job it is to do exactly that and those of us on the outside who will be thrilled to see our town featured on ABC.
Jesse Stevens has done a huge amount of work to get the operation to this point. But the work isn’t over; it’s just about to enter a new phase.
Michael Spinks has picked up the ball and now it’s his turn to make thousands of decisions which, ultimately, will result in folks hundreds of miles away enjoying a meal provided by one of the farmer/owners of Lime Springs Beef.
You can help make this dream come true by encouraging and supporting any person and any organization involved with Lime Springs Beef, especially the production workers! They’re the ones who will really make it happen. Jesse, Michael, and others involved to date have set the stage for the main feature.
I have a dream! I hope you share the same dream.
