Evelyn Mensink Passed Away

By kaw / 8 years ago

Another passing to report: Evelyn Mensink, 90, passed away June 18th. Services are Wednesday, June 24, 11 AM, at the United Methodist Church in Lime Springs.

Decades ago, Kenny and Evelyn farmed in our neighborhood. They lived on the farm which Charlie Monthy lived on, before his family moved to Washington. Currently, I believe Suzie O’Kada lives there. The farmstead is directly west of the location of Forest City #1 school—the school with the wonderful sledding hill and where I got my first seven years of education.

Evelyn’s father, Edmund Hendrickson, used to come grind our feed with his portable mill. And she was a cousin of my first friend, Jerry Hebrink. I feel that I know the family well!

Has anyone written the local news for the Lime Springs Herald longer than Evelyn’s 25 years? Possibly not.

Kenny and Evelyn Mensink leave behind a large family to mourn their loss and remember the good times they had together. That includes 42 great-grandchildren! That’s 21 times as many as Pat and I have!

Right now, as I write this, Lindstrom’s website is down. Hopefully, when you read this, it’ll be back up. You can read Evelyn’s obituary there: http://lindstromfuneralhomes.com/
