Here’s his obituary: http://www.lindstromfuneralhomes.com/obituaries/obituary-listings?obId=622105#/obituaryInfo

I’m not sure of the years, but it’s highly likely that the Mensink family (Kenny and Evelyn and their kids) lived about a mile from our farm when Allen was born. They lived on the farm where Suzie O’Kada lives (or did live; not sure if she’s still there or not.) That is the farmstead that was immediately west of the Forest City #1 school which I attended. I’m pretty certain that Allan’s brother, Larry, also attended plus possibly other siblings.

Because Allen was about ten years younger than I was, I really didn’t know him well. I’ve seen Larry much more frequently than Allen.

I note with interest that Allen led an interesting life, career wise! Look at all those things he’s done!

I’d not seen him for many decades—until last year at Sweet Corn Days. Pat and I were chosen to be Grand Marshals of the parade, which meant that we got to ride in a convertible! We met our shinny Mustang convertible and its driver: Allen Mensink! We soon learned that he liked cars, especially Mustangs!

Our sympathy goes out to Kenny and the entire Mensink family.
