Have you contacted your Representative and Senators today regarding the pending health care plan?

I have.

I contacted them yesterday, too.

I plan to contact them tomorrow, also.

How about you?

You can find your senators here: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

I suggest contacting both of those who claim to represent you.

Your representative can be found here: http://www.house.gov/house/MemberWWW_by_State.shtml

Fore best results, contact both of your senators and your representative. Then keep track of how well they represent your interest and use it as a guide for voting in the next election.

In theory, they represent you. In effect, they work for you. Therefore, you can hire and fire them; it's called an "election."

And they all have term limits. That, too, is called an "election."

Health Care Bill

If you're not living in a cave, you know that Congress is considering a health care bill which, if passed, will make great changes to the health care system in the U.S.

It will change things in your life, like it or not!

Time for a decision by our lawmakers is drawing nigh, within a few days, possibly.

Each one of us is represented by one representative and two senators. If you care at all whether this bill is passed or not passed, now would be a real good time to contact those who represent you. Let them know that it is important to you and let them know which way you want them to vote. Remember, they work for you!

I suggest a daily contact! It is that important!

Will the School Close?

Now, 50 years after Lime Springs High School ceased to exist, there is a possibility that the Lime Springs/Chester Elementary School will close!

The lead article in this week's Lime Springs Herald discusses the subject. You can read it here: http://limespringsherald.com.

I suspect this is a direct result of the financial problems the state of Iowa has, which resulted in a significant reduction in the amount of money for schools.

Visit Lime Springs NOW!

If you haven't visited Lime Springs for awhile, you can do so right now, courtesy of Google!

Google Maps offers a feature called Street View. This feature provides a recent photographic view of the area. Of course not all areas are covered, but Lime Springs is!

Let's check it out:

  1. For convenience, open a new tab on your browser or a new window. In the new tab or window----

  2. Go to http://maps.google.com/

  3. In the Search window, type the zip: 52155 and click "Search Maps." That should open a map centered on Lime Springs.

  4. Click on the "+" sign or slide the slider up to zoom in on our town. Stop when the town fills the entire window.

  5. See the little orange-colored man near the upper left corner? Drag him onto the map. Notice that some roads become outlined in blue? The blue indicates that Street View is available anyplace along that street or road.

  6. Drop the little orange man on a blue-lined street at the "five corners" area of Lime Springs. Are you surprised? Amazing!

  7. Go to the circle in the upper left corner. Drag the little "N" around the circle to see how the view changes. It gives a 360* view from the present location!

  8. Play around and enjoy!

You can move the view to any point on the blue-lined streets. Use it to check out where the Presbyterian Church used to be, Lidtke Mill, and Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

I find this feature interesting and useful. When going to new places, I can use Street View to get a preview of the actual area to which I am going.

And don't forget, Google also offers Satellite view! This is also very useful in searching out places of interest.
