Another Passing---
Written by Keith Sunday, 11 April 2010 16:04
I was shocked when I read in this week's Herald that Jean Borgan Mundfrom had passed away.
The shock came, I suppose, from the fact that I had known her "forever" and I had never seen her in any condition other than happy, smiling, friendly—and probably cooking!
Jean certainly was well known in the Lime Springs/Saetersdal/Greenleafton area. She cooked at the school for nearly 25 years, so two generations of Lime Springers could have known her from that. She played piano and organ at Saetersdal for half a century, so countless more could have known her from that.
And she always had a smile; everyone knew her for that.
And it is for that smile that I will remember Jean!
Texas Bluebonnets
Written by Keith Tuesday, 06 April 2010 18:29
Wayne Roberts knows that everyone appreciates a picture of beautiful flowers once in a while, so sent these two.
The first was taken on Easter Sunday. Here's what Wayne had to say about it:
"The Willow City Loop on Easter Sunday. I guess we saw more flowers in one day than any previous five year period! Really a good year."

Bluebonnets are the state flower of Texas, and rightly so. They are anyplace a flower can grow!
The second picture is of Wayne's flower garden.

On our trip home from Texas this year, we did not see nearly as many trees or flowers in bloom as we did last year. Spring is definitely later this year.
Ridgeway School Closing
Written by Keith Wednesday, 31 March 2010 19:41
Recently, The Lime Springs Page reported that all the schools in the HowWinn district had escaped the shortfall ax and would remain open.
After due consideration, the school board determined that the budget still would not balance and voted, reluctantly, to close the school in Ridgeway beginning with the next school year.

Bea Johnson Passed Away
Written by Keith Wednesday, 31 March 2010 19:33
A week ago, another icon of Lime Springs passed on: Bea Johnson. Bea and her parents, Earl and Flossie McMaster, were certainly a part of the Lime Springs business scene for decades, operating a barber shop and beauty salon where Dale Reis has been barbering ever since Earl retired.

Home Again!
Written by Keith Wednesday, 31 March 2010 19:01

The crocus are blooming and we are back home in Cedar Rapids!
We left Rockport Friday, the 19th, and spent a few days in Fredericksburg, TX. Thien one night in Gainsville, TX, another in Chanute, KS (where our trailer was built), then home. We arrived on Friday, 26th.
It's good to be home, especially with the beautiful weather we have these days! Actually, we had good weather for travelling on the way down and on the way home. We're thankful for that!
Now we have lots of catching up to do. The list is long:
- Complete and file the income taxes
- Get the flower beds in shape
- Spruce up the lawn and trees
- Wash the truck and trailer
- Keep this website current, so the regular readers don't leave and go someplace else
- Visit Aunt Goldie at a Harmony care center (recuperating from a second surgery to fix a broken hip)
- Visit Molly and Leah in Owatonna and, oh yes, their parents, too!
- Visit Harlene in Mankato.
- Get back to flying!
- Visit Annette in Lime Springs, to thank her for being so helpful with the Texas version of Pasta, Pistols and Passion.
- Finish a scheduling calendar for the Lime Springs Community Center for Jill
- Reconnect with friends and relatives in Iowa and Minnesota
---and so on.
Excluding the cool and rainy weather and Pat's broken wrist and foot bone, we had a good winter, our fifth winter at Rockport 35 RV Park at the same spot. Wayne and Peggy came over from San Antonio and Pat visited two high school friends from Waseca who were wintering about 15 miles south of us.
And of course we continued to enjoy our 35 RV friends from previous years and met several new ones.
